CSW Scholarship Fund FAQ’s

  • Is Community Supported Wellness Scholarship a Non-profit? No!  In a different lifetime, I worked extensively with non-profits!  After consulting with a business coach through Score (an awesome local resource, check it out!) and with a super sharp non-profit lawyer, I realized that establishing a board, and by-laws, and the entirety of a legal non-profit structure, was way more work and time than I have to give.
  • Does that mean I can’t write this off? That’s exactly what it means.  But I encourage you to recognize that you aren’t just donating money for drug treatment.  You are purchasing seminars for you to attend, that talk freely and openly about mental health education, across the board!  For you and yours!
  • How long is the my membership in The Free School good? One year!  Or four quarters of topics in the Free School.  Seminars will run every other week for the duration of the 7-week learning quarter.  Quarters will end with a special MAIR night, or for our summer session, with a Wellness Weekend with Beth Williams.
  • But what if I can’t afford one of the membership levels?  I can give you $10!  Hey, been there!  No worries, that’s enough for a year membership to attend at least the seminar portions!  There is no minimum for membership in The Free School!
  • Are you interested in talking to investors?  Am I ever!?!  Dial a sister up!
  • How can I be sure these funds are going towards what you claim? The following is a budgetary breakdown, in the interest of full transparency.

100×260 and 12×500 Campaign.

  • 100×260=$26,000
  • 12×500=$6000
  • 26,000+6000=$32,000
  • Monthly Rent. 12×1000=$12,000
  • Mair Program Stipends. $2500
  • Utilities.  Provided for through profit from McMullen Psychotherapy LLC private clients.
  • Insurance, professional organization and community fees.  Provided for through profit from McMullen Psychotherapy LLC private clients.
  • Supervision and other professional consultation fees.  Provided for through profit from McMullen Psychotherapy LLC private clients.
  • Taxes and other governmental fees.  Provided for through profit from McMullen Psychotherapy LLC private clients.
  • Group Treatment for one year for five community members suffering with Substance Abuse Disorder.  2 groups/wk x 5=10.  10x25hr/patient=$250.  250×48/weeks=$12,000.  This is payment for my services, at nearly 1/4 of the rate that I normally charge per hour.
  • $12,000+$2500+$12,000=$26,500
  • $32,000-$26,500=$5,500
  • $5,500 is the remaining amount of the funds.  This is budgeted for sliding scale individual and family treatment for the five scholarship members.
  • If each client utilizes either individual or family therapy once a week, those numbers are: 5cts x 48wks=240.  5500/240=$22.92.  This means I am dropping my hourly rate of $95/hr to roughly $23/hr and it means our scholarship candidates and their families are receiving it for free.
  • I am doing this because I want quality treatment to be accessible, and more expansive than those that medicate drug addicts without offering long term comprehensive mental health treatment   So I AM PUTTING MY professional guts out there, and putting my money where my mouth is, by taking a huge cut in potential profits, because that is how much I believe in serving our needs.
